LCC sweeps home competition with Tri-County

After competing in three straight road games to open the season, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge played their first home doubleheader of the year.

From LCC High School, the Bears entertained Tri County Northeast.

The LCC girls won 68-44 while the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys picked up a 56-42 victory.

In the girls game, LCC led 16-6 after the first quarter and followed with a 22-8 second to go up 38-14 at the break. The Bears extended their lead thanks to a 21-15 third before Tri County Northeast won the fourth, 15-9. Final favored Laurel-Concord-Coleridge winning 68-44. LCC is now 2-2 as the Wolfpack fell to 1-4.

LCC leaders were sophomore Rena Rasmussen with 19 points, sophomore Kaida Eriksen followed with 15 points as sophomore Carlie Kvols added 12 points.

Other scoring came from sophomore Hattie McCorkindale tallied six points, junior Camryn Sohler finished with five points; junior Brynlee Stanley tacked on four points, freshman Tae Settje posted three points as senior Lainey Schutte and junior Tyler Recob both scored two points.

Tri County Northeast was led in scoring by sophomore Joslyn Mackling with 14 points as sophomore Briley Anderson added nine points.

During the boys outing, LCC led 18-11 following the opening quarter while Tri County Northeast answered with a 14-9 second. The Bears led 27-25 at the break. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge then outscored Tri County Northeast, 13-9 in the third and 16-8 in the fourth. Final favored LCC winning 56-42 to improve to 4-0 as the Wolfpack fell to 1-4.

LCC leaders were senior Gibson Roberts with 23 points and three blocks, sophomore Cade Johnson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds as senior Caleb Erwin tallied 13 points, four assists and four steals.

Other scoring came from senior Conner Korth with four points as senior Eli Haisch had three points.

Tri County Northeast was led in scoring by sophomore Landyn Servine with 14 points as junior Thatcher Lamp added 11 points.
