LCC, Tri County Northeast, Winside cross country take over Pender

A trio of Wayne Herald area cross country programs competed at Twin Creeks Golf Course during the Pender Invite on Sept. 18.

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls won their third straight team race scoring 11 points while the LCC boys took fifth (46).

The Tri County Northeast girls captured fourth (43) and the Wolfpack boys finished third (39).

No team scoring was kept for the Winside girls and boys.

In the girls division, LCC medalists came from senior Kate Tasler in runner-up (21:27.62), junior Faith Galvin placed fifth (22:19.93) and sophomore Leah Gould finished seventh (22:20.29).

Other varsity results for the Bears were posted by senior Addy Hoeppner (19th - 23:28.33) and junior Abbie Brummels (33rd - 25:24.47).

The JV division was won by sophomore Ava Christiansen from LCC in 23:25.49.

Tri County Northeast varsity medalists came from senior Alejandra Hermosillo in eighth (22:26.46) and senior Rachael Bousquet placed  11th (22:39.23).

Other Wolfpack results were posted by sophomore Chloe Peters (32nd - 25:20.7) and sophomore Hailey Millard (35th - 25:30.98).

Winside results came from junior Aleah Billstein in 24th (24:18.27), freshman Leah Uttecht (44th - 27:43.35) and freshman Avery Brummels (did not start).

Junior Ava Brennan from Ponca won the girls 5k in 20:36.79 among the 53 runners.

During the boys division, senior Shane Langford from Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was the lone medalist taking sixth (18:30.44).

Other LCC varsity results were posted by sophomore Sebastian Van Drongelen (21st - 20:26.17), freshman Owen Johnson (22nd - 20:34.14), junior Hunter McGhee (29th - 21:32.65) and junior Luke Jackson (41st - 22:57.68).

The JV division showcased junior Dillion Sanderson from LCC placing 18th (24:30.21) followed by senior Oscar Salas (20th - 25:47.26).

Tri County Northeast varsity medalists were junior Jude Ridenour (18:48.51) and senior Alex Snyder (19:09.61) placing eighth and ninth respectively.

Other Wolfpack results came from sophomore Tucker Anderson (25th - 20:56.13), freshman Logan Kraemer (43rd - 23:17.89) and junior Matthew Bousquet (45th - 25:13.4).

Winside didn't have a male varsity runner.

Homer won the boys division (11) with Ponca junior Gannon Pfister winning the 5k race in 17:39.4 among the 49 runners.

All three schools also had junior high runners take over the 2,000-meter course. No team scoring was posted.

In the girls junior high division, the top LCC Bulldog runners were seventh grader Autumn Funk (19th - 9:31.32), eighth grader Ruby Tasler (22nd - 9:43.56) and seventh grader Tenlie Christiansen (27th - 10:06.02).

Other LCC results came from eighth grader Anna Lipp (37th - 11:20.54) and eighth grader Stella Graham (41st - 12:01.28). Eighth grader Petyon Benson and seventh grader Aizlynn Kossler didn't start.

Winside junior high times were posted by eighth grader MaKenna Thies (17th - 9:29.1) and eighth grader Phebe Uttecht (36th - 11:06.19).

Seventh grader Kamri Krause from Homer won the girls junior high 2k race in 7:56.71 among the 43 runners.

During the boys junior high division, the LCC Bulldogs were led by eighth grader Jeremiah Kinkaid in 10th (7:59.47), followed by seventh graders Rhett Eggers (8:12.58) and Liam Recob (8:13.95) in 11th and 12th.

Other LCC junior high results were posted by seventh grader Jaxon Hoeppner (24th - 8:43.05), seventh grader Ryker Settje (25th - 8:44.95), eighth grader Caden Barnes (41st - 10:07.45), seventh grader Drake Jairam (46th - 10:22.81), seventh grader Corbin Garcia (48th - 10:50.47), seventh grader Easton Gould (49th - 11:23.64), seventh grader Grant Brummels (50th - 11:24.31) and eighth grader Josh Tarno (51st - 11:33.11).

Tri County Northeast JH runners were led by seventh grader Michael Ridenour (8:18.84) and eighth grader Alan Figueroa (8:26.35) in 16th and 17th.

Winside's lone junior high result was posted by seventh grader Rei Shan Sinder (52nd - 12:29.01).

Homer eighth grader Tommy Reed won the boys junior high 2k race in 7:01.12 among the 52 runners.

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Tri County Northeast cross country programs are back in action at the Crofton Invite scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. from the Lewis and Clark SRA (Weigand Recreation Area).

A Nebraska state park permit will be required for all vehicles (daily $7 for NE, $14 for out-of-state). Any school, government vehicle or bus will not need a permit.

The Winside cross country team will next race on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Albion Country Club starting at 4:30 p.m.
