LCC, Wakefield boys golf highlighted at Tuesday invite; Jacob Birkley places inside top 10

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Wakefield sent boys golfers to the Hartington-Newcastle Invite Tuesday.

From the Hartington Golf Club, 15 varsity and junior varsity teams made up a weekday 18-hole outing.

The LCC boys finished eighth with a 373 while no team scoring was posted by the three Trojan golfers.

Cedar Catholic won the Hartington-Newcastle Invite with a 334 which was two shots better than O'Neill in runner-up (336), Creighton took third (339), Ponca placed fourth (346) and Wausa rounded out the top five teams with a 360.

Jace Wahl from Ponca was crowned champion following a round of 80 among the 68 golfers.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was led by Tanner Thompson with an 84 to finish 14th.

Other LCC results came from Talon Carson (91), Cade Johnson (98), Gibson Roberts (100) and Luke Erwin (109).

Wakefield results were led by a ninth place medal after a scorecard playoff from Jacob Birkley with an 82. There were four other golfers who posted an 82. Also in action for the Trojans were Drew Kubik (115) and Lane Fischer (121).

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys golf team will next join Ponca for the Hartington Triangular on Thursday, May 1 while the Wakefield boys are also in action this Thursday during the Pender Quadrangular.
