LCC, Wakefield Junior High track & field in action during Hartington-Newcastle JH Invite

A second junior high track & field event took over the April 10 schedule for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge seventh and eighth graders along with Wakefield A/B junior high teams beginning their season.

From the Hartington Complex, Junior High competitors were among seven girls and nine boys teams during the Hartington-Newcastle Junior High Track & Field Invite.

From the 15 events scored, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls finished second with 80.5 points while the LCC Junior High boys took fifth with 50 points.

Also, the Wakefield A girls finished sixth with 40 points followed by Wakefield B in seventh with seven points as the Wakefield Junior High A boys placed third with 66 points and Wakefield B in seventh with 23 points.

In the girls division, Cedar Catholic Junior High won the Invite with 114 points.

LCC event wins were posted by Kloie Ferris in the 100-meter hurdles (19.36) and 200-meter hurdles (33.07).

The 4x100 relay of Nora Specht, Kloie Ferris, Hazley Folkers and Ruby Jones crossed the finish line first in 58.93.

Ferris also tied for third place medal in the high jump (4' 2").

Ryleigh Loberg followed in runner-up in the shot put (24' 8 1/2") along with third place finishes from Madison Olson in the 1200-meter run (4:47.1) and Nora Specht during the triple jump (28' 8").

Fourth place results came from Willa Roberts in the 400-meter dash (1:13.69), Madison Olson in the 800-meter run (3:00.9), Ruby Jones in the 100-meter hurdles (20.39) and Nora Specht in the long jump (14' 5 1/2").

Stella Graham placed fifth in the shot put (21' 1/2"), Aliya Detlefsen took sixth in the triple jump (22' 8") and Simonne Wright tied for sixth in the high jump (3' 10").

Another relay result came from the 4x400 of Hazley Folkers, Ruby Jones, Willa Roberts and Nora Specht (third - 5:11.45)

Wakefield A top performances came from Maci Kratke who took runner-up in the 100-meter dash (13.99), 200-meter hurdles (34.81) and triple jump (30' 7").

Arianna Zarate placed fifth in the 800-meter run (3:01.92) and sixth in the 1200-meter run (4:54.57).

Arianna Juarez finished fifth in the high jump (4'), Brinley Cliff placed fifth in the discus (61' 6") as Alyssa Weaver took sixth in the shot put (19' 11 1/2").

In relay action, the 4x100 of Taylor Brown, Maci Kratke, Quinn Riewer and Arianna Juarez took second (1:00.01).

Wakefield B leaders were Emerson Mackling in the 800-meter run (third - 3:00.39) and the 4x400-meter relay team of Cece Hoffart, Citlali, Clair Walsh and Evelyn Smith (sixth - 5:46.6).

During the boys division, Hartington-Newcastle A won the Invite with 127 points.

LCC leaders were Turner Thompson with a second place mark in the shot put (38' 8"), Foster Stone captured a silver medal in the discus (93' 9") as Owen Johnson placed runner-up during the 800-meter run (2:39.41) and fifth in the 1200-meter run (4:18.92).

Clint Thurston placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (22.24) and Alex Allison finished fourth in the shot put (32' 4 1/4") followed by teammate Foster Stone in sixth (29' 3 1/2"). James Recob added a fifth place mark in the discus (85' 11") with teammate Devyn Staples right behind in sixth (75' 8").

Sixth place team scoring was posted by Kai Hartung in the 400-meter dash (1:09.93), Nate Langford the 110-meter hurdles (23.75) as well as Nolan Nordby in both the 200-meter hurdles (32.45) and triple jump (30 11 1/2").

In relay action, the 4x100 of Nolan Nordby, Alex Allison, Foster Stone and James Recob took fourth (57.13) as did the 4x400 of Kai Hartung, Owen Johnson, Bryson Urwiler and Jeremiah Kinkaid (4:48.57).

Wakefield A gold winners were led by Colt Johnson who won the 200-meter dash (25.95), 200-meter hurdles (27.66) and high jump (5' 4"). Carter Newton won the 800-meter run (2:34.24) and Daniel Jimenez won the 1200-meter run (4:11.04).

Johnson also earned a runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash (12.2).

In relay action, the 4x400 of Daniel Jimenez, Diego Domingo, Carter Newton and Alfredo Diego Alvardado placed third (4:46.02) as the 4x100 of Angel Martin, Alfredo Diego Alvardado, Daniel Jimenez and Diego Domingo took fifth (1:00.38).

Wakefield B was led by Joseph Armendariz at second in the 1200-meter run (4:11.77) followed by Dominic Armendariz in third (4:18.14).

 

Gio Prado finished third in the 800-meter run (2:40.91) as teammate Dominic Armendariz placed sixth (2:49.31).

In relay action, the 4x100 of Joseph Armendariz, Gio Prado, Hayden Osborne and Dominic Armendariz took sixth (1:00.85) as did the 4x400 of Dominic Armendariz, Joseph Armendariz, Aiden Nelson and Kevin Pena Ramirez (5:13.94).

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge seventh and eighth grade junior high track & field team will next host the LCC Junior High Invite on Wednesday, April 23. Wakefield Junior High will also be in action in Laurel on April 23.
