LCC, Wayne take top spots during Stanton Invite

Two Wayne Herald high school girls golf programs put on a show during the Stanton Invite held on September 4.

From Elkhorn Acres, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge edged Wayne High (420-424) to claim first and second in the team race.

A total of 14 varsity and JV teams brought out 55 golfers.

Wayne's Carli Canham finished with a seven shot advantage (91) to win the individual results.

"I am extremely happy how our team scores continue to come down," said Wayne High girls golf coach Josh Johnson. "We have gone from 239 to 224 in three short weeks. I am really proud of how the girls strive each day to get better. The girls are working extremely hard and I look forward to working on us this next week."

Other Blue Devil medals went to Hallie Heithold in fifth (102) and Rylynn Owen in ninth (106).

Claire Reinke closed out varsity scoring (125).

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was led by Holly Patefield in fourth (101), Kennedy Hall took sixth (105), Alyza Leonard placed eighth (106) and Harper Bruning finished 10th (108).

Danica Gould rounded out the varsity scoring (19th - 117).

LCC JV results were posted by Stella Kock (123), Mavis Jonas (124) and Tanya Miranda (128).

Tri County Northeast (Allen/Emerson-Hubbard) results came from Grace Ankeny (35th - 129) and Emily Stamm (41st - 138).

Wayne High girls golf is off until Monday, September 15 traveling to the Battle Creek Invite.

LCC will return to the course next on Saturday, September 13 during the Pierce Invite.

Tri County Northeast girls golf is back in action on September 16 during the LCC triangular with the host Bears and Pender.
