LCC week six fall sports recap: girls golf, volleyball, football

With two late season meets canceled due to weather, it's been since Sept. 21 the last time out for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls golf ahead of postseason play.

From the Atkinson-Stuart Country Club on Oct. 6, West Holt was the host team of the Class C-3 District meet.

LCC fired a team score of 475 to place sixth overall.

Individually for the Bears, Harper Bruning qualified for state thanks to a round of 98 to finish seventh among the top 10.

NSAA girls state golf is slated for Oct. 12-13. Class A will compete in Grand Island (Riverside Golf Club), Class B in Gering (Monument Shadows) and Class C in North Platte (Lake Maloney Golf Club).

 

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge recently competed in their eighth straight road volleyball match which was followed by their first home contest since Sept. 22.

First from Ewing on Oct. 3, LCC secured a 3-0 sweep at Summerland (25-17, 26-24. 25-7) followed by a home sweep over Hartington-Newcastle (25-15, 25-11, 25-11) on Oct. 6.

The Bears are now 21-3 on the season and have won 10 straight.

At Summerland, LCC double-doubles were awarded to Rena Rasmussen (19 kills/14 digs) and Kaida Eriksen (15 kills/10 digs) as Carlie Kvols dished out 38 assists to go along with seven digs and six kills.

 

For the second consecutive Friday, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge football team put up 70 points.

From Laurel on Oct. 2, the Bears jumped ahead early and never looked back en route to a 70-22 win over Tri County Northeast.

LCC has now won three straight improving to 5-1.

Paxton Hoeppner finished 12-14 for 303 yards and six touchdowns (long of 61 yards).

Drey Puppe hauled in seven of those catches for 177 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran the ball twice for 20 yards.
