LCC wins C2-5, Blue Devils finish runner-up at C1-5 Subdistrict

Both Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Wayne High were in action on Oct. 29 for their respective Subdistrict Championships.

From Oakland, #2 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge survived the five-set thriller winning at #1 Oakland-Craig (25-21, 21-15, 25-20, 19-25, 15-6) during the C2-5 Subdistrict final.

Double-doubles were led by junior Rena Rasmussen (solo block) with 23 kills and 20 digs; junior Carlie Kvols (four kills, three solo blocks, service ace) posted 41 assists and a team-high 21 digs as senior Tyler Recob (four service aces, solo block) recorded 11 kills and 12 digs.

Junior Kaida Eriksen added 19 digs and six kills as junior Boston Brown finished with 13 digs, three kills and two solo blocks.

The Bears (30-3) are the #5 seed in the C2-5 District final and will host #12 Stanton (23-8) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 for a trip to state.

From Battle Creek, #2 Wayne High jumped ahead 2-0 before dropping the next three sets in heart-break at #1 Battle Creek (25-15, 25-21, 21-25, 19-25, 10-15) during the C1-5 Subdistrict final.

Wayne High ended their season at 21-13.

Tri County Northeast (24-5) will be in action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. as the #12 seed in the D1-5 District final visiting #5 Shelton (25-5) for a trip to state.
