LCC, Winside track & field represented at Ponca Invite

Members of the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Winside girls and boys track & field programs were among several area teams who participated in the Ponca Invite.

From Ponca, cool temperatures and sunny skies made for a great day of high school track & field competition.

The LCC girls finished with 68 points while the LCC boys scored 26 points as the Winside girls had 31 points and the Winside boys totaled 18 points.

No official team scoring was shared due to an error in calculating team points. The meet will be re-scored Wednesday morning.

In the girls division, Tali Erwin took top honors for LCC in the high jump (5' 2").

Carlie Kvols finished runner-up in the 800-meter run (2:33.86) along with a 1600-meter silver medal from Kate Tasler (5:47.9).

Grace Galvin took third in the long jump (14' 10 1/2").

Taelynn Settje placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (13.77) and was fifth in the 200-meter dash (28.62) as Hattie McCorkindale took fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:05.95).

Faith Galvin collected a fourth place time in the 320-meter run (13:31.92) and fourth during 1600-meter run (5:56.34) along with teammate Justice Olson in sixth (6:11.63).

Laney Folkers also added to the team scoring with a fourth place mark in the triple jump (29' 3") and sixth in the long jump (14' 3/4").

In relays, the 4x800 of Kvols, Tyler Recob, Justice Olson and Kate Tasler placed runner-up (10:40.18) and the 4x400 of McCorkindale, Erwin, Recob and Kvols finished third (4:31.78).

The Winside girls were led by Hadleigh Schutt winning the shot put (36' 8") along with a runner-up mark in the discus (101' 5").

Katelyn Jaeger took fifth in the 3200-meter run (13:36.27) as Bridget Marotz placed fifth in the high jump (4' 6") and sixth in the 100-meter dash (13.9).

In relays, the 4x800 of Adrianna Miller, Katelyn Jaeger, Aleah Bilstein and Hadley Sellin placed third (11:08.76) and the 4x400 of Bilstein, Miller, Sellin and Marotz finished fifth (4:45.88).

During the boys division, LCC's Preston Rose earned a silver medal in the 1600-meter run (5:08.2).

Dayton Korth placed fourth in the pole vault (8' 6") and sixth during the triple jump (34' 5 1/2") as Weston Patefield vaulted to a fifth place mark (8' 6").

Jaylen Carpenter finished fifth in the shot put (44' 6 1/2") as Shane Langford took sixth in the 800-meter run (2:26.19).

In relays, the 4x800 of Langford, Sebastian Van Drongelen, Hunter Benson and Carter Korth finished third (10:01.69) and the 4x400 of Hunter McGhee, Carter Korth, Benson and Ian Sohler placed fifth (3:59.98).

The Winside boys were led by Caleb Offner winning the discus (153' 6") while taking third in the shot put (47' 11 1/2").

Bill Pace took fifth in the discus (113' 4").

The LCC girls and boys track & field program will next compete on Saturday, May 3 during the Greater Northeast Activities Conference (GNAC) hosted by West Holt in Atkinson while the Winside girls and boys will return to action on Saturday, May 3 during the Lewis and Clark Conference Championships hosted by Winnebago.
