Leon Daum, 82, of Wayne, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025 at his home at Kinship Pointe in Wayne.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.

Memorials may be directed to the Daum family for later designation.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.

Leon Alvin Daum was born in Wayne on Aug. 22, 1942 to Alvin George and Leona Dorthea (Fuchser) Daum. He attended Trinity Lutheran Parochial School in Altona and Frog Pond District #5 Country School, then graduated from Wayne High School in 1960. Leon and Mary Etta Perry were married Dec. 29, 1963 in O’Neill. They farmed for many years south of Wayne. After  moving into Wayne,  Leon worked at Logan Valley Implement in the parts department for several years. In his retirement years, Leon helped on the farm with his son-in-law, Verlin, and grandson, Isaac. He thoroughly enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a few fishing excursions with his son, Kurt.

Leon’s family includes his wife of 61 years, Mary; their daughter, Joan (Verlin) Hanson of Concord and son, Kurtis (Deb) Daum of Wayne; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly (Howard) Miller of Lexington, Kentucky; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Leona Daum; an infant sister; parents-in-law, Dale and   Virginia (Hopkins) Perry.
