Funeral services for LeRoy J. Clarkson, 86 of Neligh, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Neligh with Father John Norman officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh with military rites conducted by Neligh American Legion Post #172 and VFW #5287. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Wake Service at 7 p.m. 

LeRoy J. Clarkson died Friday, Aug. 16, 2024 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh.

LeRoy James Clarkson born June 9, 1938 to James and Bernadine (Reicks) Clarkson at Petersburg. He attended school at Concord. LeRoy was enlisted in the United States Navy in March 1956 and was discharged in October 1957. On June 28, 1958 he married Sally Kay in Dixon. They moved to Neligh in 1968. He worked several jobs as a mechanic. The job he loved the most was working at Neligh Oakdale School, helping students and taking them to their sports events and field trips for 18 years. Retiring from school, he worked at Bomgaars for 10 years and at Antelope County Museum. He belonged to Neligh American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Clarkson o fNeligh; children: Deanna (Marv) Hagberg of South Sioux City; Lori (Chuck) Froberg of Norfolk; Kimberly (Paul) Pate of Las Vegas, Nevada; Tom (Serena) Clarkson of Vermillion, South Dakota; and Scott (Lori) Clarkson of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Evert of Fremont; brothers, Keith (Doris) Clarkson of Laurel, Leonard (Carol) Clarkson of Creighton and Robert (Deb) Clarkson of Concord.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmie; brothers, LaVerne and Francis; sister-in-law, Sandra, and brother-in-law Roger.
