Leslie “Les” L. Keenan, 68, of Wayne, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2023 at his home in Wayne.

Services will be held Saturday Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Winside.

Memorials may be directed to Les’ family for later designation.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Leslie “Les” Leon Keenan was born Aug. 28, 1954, in Sioux City, Iowa to Robert Kincaid and Agnes Blanche (Couture) Keenan. In 1972, he graduated from Winside High School and was a graduate of Northeast Community College in Norfolk.  Les then began his 45 year career as a Ford auto mechanic in Wayne.  He worked for Roy Hurd Ford Mercury, later for Arnie and Marjorie Reeg, and then Bill and Betty Reeg at Arnies’ Ford ~ Mercury.  Les enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and being “Uncle Chewstick” to his family’s dogs and nieces and nephews. 

Survivors include his siblings, Robin (Randy) Nelsen of Winside, Linda Nielsen of Denver, Colorado, Lela (Robert) Frantz of Warsaw, Indiana, Gary Nielsen of Phoenix, Arizona; very dear nephew and his family, Jeremy (Kay) Keenan and great nieces, Kylie and Krista; brother-in-law, Bernie Walter of Battle Creek; additional nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Preceding Les in death were his grandparents; father in 1983; mother in 2017; sisters, Thea in 20ll and Mary in 2015; two brothers-in-law; and one great niece.
