Less than four weeks until Chicken Show

An annual tradition has reached 46 years where the second weekend of July, chickens come to roost and community wide celebration will be put on full display.

'United We Cluck: 250 Years of Feathered Freedom' is a spin-off on celebrating America's 250th birthday during the Wayne Chicken Show.

The Chicken Show is free to attend with several events for families and youth.

The Crowing Motors Kirk Sommerfeld Memorial Car Show will now be on Friday night (July 10) with registration at 3 p.m. during Henoween in downtown Wayne. The show will last until 6:30 p.m. with awards to follow.

Main stage activities will again take place at 113 S. Main Street beginning with the National Anthem at 5:30 p.m.

Moving into July 11, get signed up by June 30 (to get a t-shirt) for the PMC 5k & one-mile Chicken Run which starts at 7 a.m. (getmeregistered.com/WayneChickenRun) and then relax and enjoy the Chicken Show parade at 9:30 a.m. (sign up with the Chamber office).

Afternoon activities will start at 1 p.m.

The Light Up the Sky Fireworks display will put a wrap on the 46th annual Wayne Chicken Show in the evening at 10 p.m. from the Wayne Summer Sports Complex with music being played on Big Red Country 'KTCH' 104.9.
