Items on Tuesdays' Wayne County Board of Commissioners' agenda included several routine matters and resulted in a relatively short meeting.
Acting as the Wayne County Board of Equalization, Wayne County Commissioners accepted a correction to the tax rate for the City of Wayne.
County Clerk Joni Tietz told the board that there was a clerical clarification needed due to a difference in rounding of the tax rate between the City of Wayne and Wayne County. This is a very minor difference and will result in approximately a $10 difference between the two entities calculations.
During the Board of Commissioners meeting, commissioners heard from Julie Schultz, Wayne County Extension Educator, on the holiday schedule for the office. She said the office will be closed between Christmas and New Year's to align with that of the University of Nebraska schedule.
Lisa Lindsay, Wayne County Treasurer, brought forward a list of three people who are on the county's distress warrant list. All others who were previously on the list have been removed. She noted that more than 99% of the county's taxes have been collected.
Commissioners approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Veterans' Affairs. It will allow Yancey Keiser, Wayne County Veterans Service Officer the use of a technology program for his office.
In other action, the commissioners voted unanimously to approve Resolution 25-28 Year End certification of County Highway Superintendent. This action acknowledges that Highway Superintendent Kyle Huff has been the county's highway superintendent throughout the year.
Tuesday's meeting included an executive session in which the commissioners discussed possible litigation.
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners will next meet in regular session on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. in the Wayne County Courtroom.
