Linda K. Dorcey, 76, of Wayne, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at her home near Wayne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 with a public vigil service with rosary Friday at 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s School in Wayne.
Linda Kay Dorcey was born April 2, 1947 in Atkinson to Louis and Lois (Pettijohn) Seger. She attended Norfolk High School and graduated from Wayne High. Linda married Jerry Dorcey on June 6, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. Linda joined the Catholic Church in 1964 after studying the faith and falling in love with it. Linda was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Wayne. She lived her life devoutly. Linda loved raising her children. She, along with her husband, have inspired their children to live out their Catholic faith.
Linda was an active participant at St. Mary’s, helping teach CCD, Blue Knights and Little Flowers, church dinners, and baking pies for the fair stand. She was very active with Right-To-Life. Linda was the first President of the Wayne County Right-to-Life. She was on the Board of the Nebraska Coalition of Life.
Linda was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids in their activities. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed Husker anything and Creighton Basketball.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry; their children and families: Chad (Jean) Dorcey of Wayne, (Brett, Derick and James), Todd (Julie) Dorcey of West Point (Madison, Tate, Kora and Regan), Shannon (Jean) Dorcey of Wakefield (Joshua, Justin, Danika, and Jacob), Jerrae (Dave) Braun of Wayne, (Zac, Lauryn, Ben, Noah, Isaac and Toby), Kelly Thurman of Vermillion, South Dakota (Jerry), Shellyn (Pat) Sands of Firth, (Lexi and Hannah), Alicia (Scott) McIntosh of Wayne, (Kaylei, Will, Dexter, Israya, and Jaymes), Becca (Chris) Leatherdale of Wayne, (Mike, Chase and Joe), Jack Dorcey of St. Paul, MN, Jeremy (Marta) Dorcey of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee (Akemi and Mateo), “Kricket” Karissa (Bryan) Hays of Wayne (Talen, Karter, Trent, Adalynn and Beau Rowdy); 17 great-grandkids; sisters, Shelly Mountain of Murfreesboro, North Carolina and Kimberly Sothan of Pierce; in-laws: Mark (Mary) Dorcey of Dakota City, John Dorcey of North Bend, Tom (Gerda) Dorcey of Marlboro, Massachusetts, MaryAnn Dorcey of Omaha, Kevin Dorcey of Phoenix, Arizona, Rod Kvols of Laurel, and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Lois Seger; in-laws, Felix and Mary Dorcey and sister-in-law, Susan Kvols.
