Little Red Hen Theatre to present 'A Christmas Story'

This holiday season, The Little Red Hen Theatre invites audiences to step back into the nostalgic world of leg lamps, bunny suits, and BB guns with its festive stage production of A Christmas Story.

Performances will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5, 6 and 7 at The Little Red Hen Theatre in Wakefield.

Based on the beloved film, A Christmas Story follows young Ralphie Parker’s desperate quest for the ultimate Christmas gift — an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle (with a compass AND a thing that tells time build right into to stock, of course). Along the way, he battles bullies, decoder rings, and his parents’ greatest fear — “You’ll shoot your eye out!”

From the unforgettable glow of a “major award” leg lamp to a triple-dog dare gone horribly right, A Christmas Story captures all the joy, chaos, and nostalgia of a 1940s Christmas morning.

“The story of A Christmas Story is one that generations have grown up with,” said T. Adam Goos, director of the production. “It’s filled with heart, humor, and those perfectly imperfect family moments that make the holidays so memorable. We’re thrilled to bring this timeless story to life right here in Wakefield.”

The production features a talented cast of local performers of all ages, making this a true community celebration. The cast features Kellen Haglund as Ralphie, Mike Pommer as The Old Man, Barb Farup as Mother, Raymond Nelson as Randy, Katelyn Pommer as Flick, Victoria Nelson as Schwartz, Holly Kathol as Miss Shields, Donna Ekberg as Esther Jane, Madelyne Herting as Hellen Weathers, Bailey Brown as Skut Farkas, and featuring Charity Potter, Eliana Suarez, Emily Fuoss, Harper Kai, Jesse Kai, and Josie Vilkas in a number of roles with Blake Craig as narrator. The production is being directed by T. Adam Goos, with assistance from Lexi Kapanka, and Buffany DeBoer, with Daphne Schmit as Stage Manager.

The production is sponsored in part by The Dixon County Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Wayne County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and 2026 Patrons of The Little Red Hen Theatre.

Whether you’re reliving a cherished childhood memory or introducing your kids to the story for the first time, A Christmas Story promises a night of laughter, nostalgia, and holiday spirit for the whole family.

Tickets for A Christmas Story are $11 for adults, $9 for students/seniors and are available now at www.littleredhentheatre.com or by calling (402) 287-2818.
