On Aug. 20, 1962 he entered the United States Army Reserve, where he served for six years.  He married Sharyl Ann Longe at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne on March 5, 1962.  The couple made their home in Wisner for several years, before moving to a farm north of Wayne. In 1979, they moved into Laurel where they became members of United Lutheran Church.  Early in his career, Lloyd worked at various feedlots near Wisner before farming on his own land. He later sold livestock feed as well as livestock water tanks for USA Tire, traveling throughout the Midwest. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 54, serving as a Commander for many years. Lloyd was also a member of the Tri-State Tractor Club. He enjoyed tractor drives, farm shows, hunting, and traveling.  Most of all, Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, great-grandkids, and two cats.
