Looking Ahead in Wayne

City Council meetings

Regular Wayne City Council meetings are at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month in City Hall at 513 Main St. It would be our honor to have you join us for a meeting.

1100 E 10th Street Advisory Committee

The Mayor plans to appoint an advisory committee on June 15 to help coordinate/communicate the progress being made with the planning of the City property at 1100 E 10th Street (formerly FNBO).

This committee will help the consultant (JEO) with the process, being the main liaison to the City Council. The Mayor has asked that this committee report back to the City Council at every Council meeting on the progress. I will likely be appointed to this committee to assist with the communication.

Projects Update

The dirt moving at 14th and Centennial is preparing the property for a new energy center. This energy center will first see a new electrical substation constructed/completed in mid-late 2027. (This sub will be right at the northwest corner of that intersection). This, along with some additional upgrades, will create redundant circuits in our distribution system. This redundancy will give our existing substation of 50+ years some much needed “relief” and eventual substation upgrades to be made.

The dirt being prepared just north of the substation footprint is for an eventual electric production upgrade/addition. This part of the energy center planning has not been formally completed yet, but the dirt moving now ensures that the earth won’t have to move twice (major cost savings!).

The dirt moving at the north edge of Prairie Park is for a different type of “electricity.” As Gordan Parks said, "Enthusiasm is the electricity of life."
