Funeral services with military rites for Loren R. Park, 90, of Wayne will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery at Concord.

He died Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at his home in Wayne.

 Memorials may be directed to the Park family for later designation.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Loren Richard Park was born June 15, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa to Loren Everett and Mildred La Thela (Van Horn) Park. He attended Wakefield Public School and was a graduate of Dixon High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Wayne State College and his Master’s Degree in education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. As an United States Marine, he attended boot camp in San Diego, California and then served in Japan, Alaska, Okinawa, and Guam. 

Loren married Dorothy Mae Peterson April 9, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Dixon. The couple lived in Dixon while Loren finished his college education, before moving to Fremont where he worked as a public school teacher.  As a school administrator, Loren worked in the public school systems in Wayne, then Beatrice and finally Winnebago. Loren was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wayne and the Wayne Optimist Club.                 

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dot”; their children, Julie (Mike) Hans of Wynot, Randy (Terri) Park of Omaha and Bryan (Sandy) Park of Carroll; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Adelyn Park of Fremont, Mary Park of Mount Vernon, South Dakota, and Ardith Schmidt of Norfolk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Mildred Park; stepfather, Elmer Sundell; three brothers; Lysle, Claire and Tom; one grandson, Garrett Hans; two step-sisters; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and parents-in-law,  Earl “Chub” and Hazel (McCaw) Peterson.
