The Wayne High boys basketball team ran their winning streak to seven games Friday with a 60-45 win over Guardian Angels Central Catholic at Wayne High School.

The Blue Devils led from start to finish, building a 16-10 first-quarter advantage. Mason Lee scored eight of his game-high 15 points in the opening period, including a pair of three-point plays that helped Wayne gain the early advantage.

Wayne led by as many as nine points in the second after a Shea Sweetland 3-pointer, but the Bluejays battled back and closed the deficit to five points at intermission, 23-18.

Wayne took control of the game in the second half, outscoring the Bluejays 20-10 in the third quarter with a balanced attack, highlighted by consecutive 3-pointers from Grayson McBride, who shared top scoring honors with Lee. The Bluejays never got closer than 11 points in the fourth quarter, and Wayne went on to the victory to improve to 11-3 on the season.

Lee and McBride were joined in double figures by Jack Evetovich, who finished with 10 points. Will Anderson had six, Tyler Gilliland scored five, Sweetland and Payten Gamble each had three, Beau Bowers scored two and Tyler Pecena had one.

The Wayne High boys are back in action Tuesday when they host Crofton.
