Luella Bee Kitching

Luella Bee Kitching, 83, of Estacada, Oregon died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021.

A memorial service is being planned for next spring in Estacada, Oregon.

Luella Bee Kitching was born Luella Bee Kollmorgen in Ardmore, Oklahoma on July 1, 1938. She chose to be called by her middle name and was known by friends and family as "Bee. " She grew up in Wayne and graduated from Wayne State Teachers College with a B.S. degree in Science. After her graduation she moved to Cottage Grove, Oregon, where she taught school for nine years. In 1967 Bee moved to Oakridge, Oregon, where she was a substitute teacher. In 1973 she began working with the U.S. Forest Service in Oakridge.

In June of 1991 Bee and her husband, Gordon moved to Sitka, Alaska, where they both worked for the U.S. Forest Service in the Tongass National Forest. When they retired, the couple built a home and became residents of Estacada, Oregon. Bee was active in the Eagle Creek Presbyterian Church and an active member and supporter of the Ladies Aid Society of the church. Bee enjoyed her family and many friends. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, meeting new people and experiencing new adventures. She always enjoyed seeing family and friends during her travels.

Survivors include her brother, Don Kollmorgen and his wife, Louise Woerner and her sister, Judy and her husband, Roger Denesia; two nieces Christine Glover and her husband, Mark and Catherine Denesia and her husband, Patrick Meraz; grand nephews and nieces Michael and McKenzie Glover and Ella, Cohl and Hailey Meraz; and step-children, Shannon and Eric Kitching.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon R. Kitching and her parents, Herbert and Luella Kollmorgen.
