Funeral services for Luetta J. “Lou” Deck, 92 of Hoskins, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins. Pastor Rodney Rixe will be officiating the service. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m., Monday, also at Trinity Lutheran in Hoskins.
Luetta died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Luetta was born on March 19, 1933, in Mission, South Dakota to Walter and Velda (Wardrip) Hartmann. She grew up in Stanton, graduating from Stanton High School in 1950. Lou married Myron “Mike” Deck on March 25, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. After marriage, Mike and Luetta farmed in the Hoskins area. They moved into Hoskins in 2003. Lou enjoyed playing bridge and sewing. She operated her own sewing business for many years. She loved spending time with her family. Lou was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins, past president of the church Ladies Aid, Extension Club, and chairman of the Hoskins Centennial.
Survivors include her children, Doug (Beth) Deck of Hoskins, Scott (Nancy) Deck of Hoskins, Hugh “Skip” Deck of Hoskins; six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and brother Wayne (Shirley) Hartmann of Libby, Montana.
She was preceded in death by her husband Myron “Mike” Deck; parents Walter and Velda Hartmann; great-grandson Colton Jensen; two brothers Owen and Darwin, and two sisters, Yvonne Muhs and Pat Wagner
Casket bearers will be Josh Jensen, Brent Tietz, Justin Koch, Shawn Beaudette, Michael Deck, Kyle Holland and Nate Behmer.
