Lydaisy L. Janke, 87, of Winside, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Kinship Pointe in Wayne.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 4 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery at Winside.
Memorials may be directed to the Janke family for later designation.

Lydaisy Lou Janke was born Jan. 24, 1939 in Winside to Andrew Alvin and Marjorie Leu (Darnell) Mann. She was baptized at Theophilus Lutheran Church rural Winside and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside. She graduated from Winside High School and attended Wayne State College and was a country school teacher at Wayne County District #24 for one year. She worked for Bank of America in California and later as the head cook at Winside Public School. Lydaisy later owned and operated the Stop Inn Café in Winside for 6 years. Dean and Daisy were high school sweethearts, and during his military service were married on Dec. 21, 1957 in Torrance, California. They raised four children: son, Dean Jr. and daughters, Darci, Dawn and Darla. After farming for many years, they moved from the family farm south of Winside to town in 1992.
Lydaisy was a long-time active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, serving in Ladies Aid, as a Sunday School Teacher and choir member. She served as co-chairman of the Winside Centennial Committee and a member of the library group during the building of the new facility. Through the years, Lydaisy enjoyed traveling and vacationing by car, but most of all, anything with family. She spent many hours traveling many miles attending games, concerts, and events for her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, son, Dean (Debbie) Janke Jr. of Winside; daughters, Darci (Kenny) Frahm of Winside, Dawn (Charles) Peter of Winside, and Darla (Tenn) Harbin of Tarkio, MO; 10 grandchildren, Dean “Will” Janke III (Taylor), Deserah Janke, Shane (Nykee) Frahm, Brady Frahm, Rachel Peter, Matthew (Jaycie) Peter and Ashley O’Mack; 10 great grandchildren, Christian (Rachel) Frahm, Cale Frahm, Keenan Myers, Wyatt Frahm, Tucker Janke, Beau Janke, Zeke Janke, Hudson Peter and Jonah Peter; sisters, Marsha Thompson of Fremont and Georgianna (John) Meyer of Lincoln; brother, Andy (Sue) Mann of Norfolk; sisters-in-law, Donna Miller of Garden Grove, CA, Rose Janke of Winside, Dorinda Janke of Norfolk, Carol Janke of Norfolk, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean June 5, 2022; baby sister, Andrea Ellen; in-laws, Alfred and Elsie Janke; brothers-in-law, Norris Janke, Randy Janke, Dean Miller and Roger Thompson; niece, Jennifer Miller and nephews, Scott Janke and A.K. Mann.
