Lyle Gene Larson, 73, of Pender, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at his home. 

Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Pender.  Funeral services will be Friday, May 24 at 2 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender.  

Memorials are suggested to Boys Town (Donations, PO Box 8000, Boys Town, NE  68010).  

Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.  

Lyle Gene Larson was born July 23, 1950 to Clarence and Zeltha (Nelson) Larson in Pender. On Sept. 2, 1952, Lyle was baptized and confirmed on March 14, 1965, at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Pender. Lyle attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1968.  He enlisted in the Army National Guard on March 15, 1971, and served for six years.  Lyle graduated from Nebraska Vocational Technical College in 1970, with an Associate of Applied Arts Degree in Civil Engineering.  Lyle worked as a surveyor for the State of Nebraska.  In 1972, he returned to the family farm east of Pender to help his father farm.  On Aug. 7, 1999 Lyle married Karen Elsberry at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield. 

Lyle was a member of the Pender American Legion Post 55.  He enjoyed farming with his family and spending time with his stepchildren and their families. 

Survivors include his wife, Karen Larson of Pender; stepchildren, Ronda (Kevin) Stevens of Champaign, Illinois, Tonya (Matthew) Stamm of Lincoln and Anthony Elsberry of Lincoln; step-grandchildren, Brooke Stevens, Drew (Charly) Stevens, Dr. Rachel (Camden) McKuras, Caleb Stamm, Leah Stamm, Canaan Stamm, Chelzie Elsberry; sisters, Deborah (Craig) Luehr of St. Paul, Minnesota, Shirley (William) Purabulos of Lincoln, and three nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Myra.
