Maria Lippman  Hewitt, 95, of Wayne, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at her farm home near Wayne.

Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. The Rev. Jeanne Madsen will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. Burial will be in the Pilger Cemetery at Pilger.

Memorials may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne and the Nebraska Veterans Home in Norfolk.

Maria Hewitt was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Flachmeer, Germany to Heinrid and Elizabeth (Meiner) Haase. She completed school in Germany. Maria lived in Papenburg and Bremen, Germany, then came to America in 1951.She married Richard Lippman on Feb. 21, 1952 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger. Maria married Richard W. Hewitt on Nov. 23, 1974 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. The couple farmed north of Pilger. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.


Survivors include her children, Richard (Kaye) Lippman  and Ron (VerJean) Lippman of Norfolk, Heidi (Brian) Anderson  and Jack (Linda) Hewitt of Pilger, Vernice (Patrick) Schumacher of Lindsay, David (Theresa) Hewitt of Cottonwood, Calif.; siblings, Ella and Christina Krull of Flachmeer, Germany, and Louis Thos of Kerrville, Texas;  23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren;  nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Richard Lippman and Richard W. Hewitt; four brothers, Heinrik, Barnhard, Herman, and Aberhard; two sisters, Elizabeth and Tekla; three step-children, Doris Harker, Linda Beyer, and Patrick Hewitt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Maria’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Christopher Lippman, Jeramie Lippman, Nick Sullivan, Dylan Schumacher, Bob Reinhardt, Marty Marx, Roger Wurdeman, Mathew Harker and Josh Buderus.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.
