Marlin E. Schuttler, 84, of Bancroft and Wayne, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10 at  Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Wakefield. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 9 at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne. Burial will be at a later date at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wakefield

Memorials may be directed to Marlin’s family for later designation.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Marlin Edward Schuttler was born May 18, 1939, to Rudy and Jonetta (Nelsen) Schuttler. He was born and raised near Osmond. He was the third of five children. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. He graduated from Osmond and attended one year of College at Norfolk Junior College in Norfolk. He met his future wife, Nila, while cruising the streets of Osmond. Marlin married Nila in 1959 in Yankton, South Dakota. Together they were blessed with four children, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Marlin worked various jobs over the years, most noteworthy was Mar’s Repair, the auto repair shop he owned and operated in Wayne. He was also the Wayne County Noxious Weed Control Superintendent for over 20 years. 

He had an unwavering love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never missed a ballgame, concert, play, birthday or graduation. He enjoyed attending auctions and tinkering out in this yard. 

Survivors include his children Keith (Shelley) of Cecil, Wisconsin, Elizabeth (Doug) Carlson of Wakefield, Mark (Janelle) of Omaha and John (Carri) of Bancroft; grandchildren Renee Schuttler, Maggie (Tyler) Wurm, Logan (Chloe) Carlson, Ethan Schuttler, Grant Schuttler, Jarod Schuttler, Kennedy (Ty) Hermelbracht, Delaney Schuttler and Max Schuttler; six great-grandchildren Taryn, Rory, Autumn, Peyton, Olivia and Cooper; a brother, Dwaine Schuttler, and sisters Althea (Jim) Gilbertson, Jan Durant and Kathy (Al) Hamilton; sisters-in-law Linda (Dennis) Huttmann and Judy Skirvan and brother-in-law, Jack (Donna) Mefford. 

Marlin was proceeded in death by his parents, Rudy and Jonetta, and his wife, Nila.
