After nearly four decades of dedicated service, Marty Onnen is retiring from Northeast Power, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment to the people of northeast Nebraska.

Marty began his career in 1987 with Wayne County Public Power District, where he became known for his strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and dedication to providing reliable electricity to local communities.

When Wayne County Public Power merged with Northeast Nebraska Rural Public Power District in 1998 to form Northeast Power, Marty played a key role in ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the dependable service customers relied on.

As a lineman, Marty spent countless hours braving the elements through all hours of the day and night to keep the lights on for homes, farms, and businesses throughout the region. His knowledge and focus on safety made a lasting impact, not only on the company but also on the many colleagues he worked with over the years. His dedication to the job was more than just a career—it was a commitment to serving the people of Northeast Nebraska.

Recently, Northeast Power honored Marty with a special recognition event, where coworkers and friends gathered to celebrate his dedicated service. General Manager Tracy Golden recognized Marty’s contributions, stating, “Marty’s dedication and hard work have made a lasting impact. His commitment to the District has set a great example for others to follow.”

Marty’s retirement marks the end of an era, but his contributions will last. The team at Northeast Power—and the many customers who benefited from his hard work—wish him all the best in this new chapter of life.

"Thank you, Marty, for your years of dedication and service. Your contributions will always be a part of Northeast Power. Enjoy your well-earned retirement," Golden said.
