A milestone year was reached in honoring a past Wayne businessman who dedicated his life to Wayne and athletics.
A total of 30, three person teams made up the 20th annual Marty Summefield Memorial Golf Tournament on July 25 from the Wayne Country Club.
This year's event raised around $9,000 after expenses and with additional donations throughout all the years, $150,000 has been donated back to the Wayne Booster Club, which in turn benefits the student-athletes.
The Summerfield family donates major prizes plus all other businesses donate raffle items.
An unexpected heart attack took the life of long-time businessman Marty Summerfield on February 13, 2007. He was only 49 years old.
