Wayne State senior libero Jordan McCormick was announced Saturday afternoon as the 2023 NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for volleyball, as she held the highest-grade point average with the most credits earned among the four remaining tournament teams.

McCormick is majoring in K-6 Special Education at Wayne State. The Elkhorn South graduate holds a 4.0 grade-point average while playing libero for the Wildcats. McCormick has played in all 97 sets for the Wildcats this season and leads the team with 419 digs (4.32 digs per set) with a .966 reception percentage.  She ranked in the top-10 in NSIC play with 4.35 digs per set in 18 matches.

McCormick is the second Wildcat volleyball player in the last three years to receive the honor as Lauren Jacobsen was named Elite 18 Award winner in 2021.

Last summer McCormick became Wayne State’s first-ever Academic All-American Second Team honors in beach volleyball with her perfect 4.0 grade point average.

As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration during the 2016-17 academic year, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 Championships.

McCormick was presented the award during the pregame of the St. Cloud State vs. Wayne State semifinal volleyball match at the NSIC Tournament in Rice Auditorium.
