Mid Summer Classic day two - Pony scores, Wayne White wins

Day two of the Mid-Summer Classic took over Graves Park in Wakefield.

From Eaton Field, the Wayne White Ponies closed out tournament competition with their second pool play game. The game was moved back an hour Saturday morning due to overnight rain.

After falling to Norfolk Steel 12-6 Friday night, the Wayne White Ponies won 5-3 over Creighton to improve to 8-2 overall.

Wayne White led 3-1 after the first inning and 5-1 following the second. Creighton scored twice in the third as final favored Wayne White holding onto the 5-3 win and winning the hit department, 5-3.

Remyngton Rager doubled and scored while Tate Holz singled and scored.

Maddux Heithold, Parker Zara and Will Patefield all singled as Easton Endicott and Colston Starzl both scored.

Camden Hall (88 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in six innings allowing three runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out seven batters, walking three and hitting one.

The Wayne White Ponies will next host Pender at 7 p.m. in Tri County League play on Sunday.

Other Saturday scores in the Pony Division favored Vermillion over Pender (3-2); West Point Cardinals won against Bennington (9-5); Norfolk Steel over Creighton (13-2) and Laurel won a rain-shorted game against Pender (8-2). The Wakefield vs. Bennington pool one game was moved to Sunday morning.

Vermillion won 1-0 over Bancroft in the Didget Division with the Bronco Division playing four games on Sunday and Coach Pitch with their games also in Wakefield on Sunday.
