It will be a busy weekend in Wakefield during the Mid Summer Classic for 32 youth baseball teams.
Divisions will include Pony (14U), Bronco (12U), Didget (10U) and Coach Pitch (8U) with action scheduled for June 19-21.
In the Pony Division (Eaton Field/Legion Field) on June 19, Wakefield will open against West Monona at 3 p.m., followed by West Point Dodgers vs. Vermillion at 5 p.m. and conclude with Norfolk Steel vs. Lincoln Blackhawks at 7 p.m.
Day two will open at 10 a.m. for Pender vs. Creighton while games at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. will be determined from previous games.
Three more games will be played on June 21 at 10 a.m., noon (third place) and 2 p.m. (finals).
During the Bronco bracket (Little League/Northeast field) on June 19, Wakefield will open against Warrior Baseball Club (WBC) at 4 p.m., followed by Norfolk Steel vs. Crofton at 6 p.m. and close with West Point Dodgers vs. Vermillion at 8 p.m.
Day two will begin with Wakefield vs. South Sioux City (SSC) Redbirds at 9 a.m., Norfolk Steel vs. PBR-Red at 11 a.m., West Point Dodgers vs. PBR-White at 1 p.m., WBC vs. SSC Redbirds at 3 p.m., Vermillion vs. PBR-White at 5 p.m. and close with Crofton vs. PBR-Red at 7 p.m.
Sunday will showcase Pool play champions facing each other at 10 a.m. (A vs. B), noon (B vs. C) and 2 p.m. (A vs. C).
Didget tourney play (Pee Wee/Northwest field) will open on June 19 for Wakefield vs. West Point Bombers at 2 p.m., followed by Pierce White vs. West Point Dodgers at 3:30 p.m. and close with Pender vs. Pierce Blue at 5 p.m.
Day two will start at 8:30 a.m. for Vermillion vs. Pierce White, Wakefield vs. West Monona at 10 a.m., SSC Redbirds vs. Pierce Blue at 11:30 a.m., Vermillion vs. West Point Dodgers at 1 p.m., West Point Bombers vs. West Monona at 2:30 p.m. and SSC Redbirds vs. Pender at 4 p.m.
Sunday will feature Pool play champions at 9:30 a.m. (A vs. B), 11 a.m. (B vs. C) and 12:30 p.m. (A vs. C).
The Coach Pitch - 8U games (Pee Wee/Northwest field) will open on June 19 for Wakefield vs. Pender (on softball field) at 2 p.m., Pierce Blue vs. Wisner-Pilger at 6:45 p.m. and Wakefield vs. West Monona at 8 p.m.
Day two will begin at 5:30 p.m. for Laurel vs. Wisner-Pilger, followed by Pender vs. West Monona at 6:45 p.m. and Pierce Blue vs. Laurel at 8 p.m.
Championship Sunday will be played at 2 p.m. (Pool A winner vs. Pool B winner).
