The internet website domain name WayneAmerica.com is being sold by Mikey C Productions, LLC, to Wayne Area Economic Development, Inc.
Michael Carnes, CEO of Mikey C Productions, announced an agreement has been reached to turn over the domain name, which has been home to a local news website started by Carnes in the fall of 2016.
“I was approached by Luke Virgil about the possibility of selling the domain, and I’m happy to be able to make this domain available so the business community can take full advantage of the city’s long-used nickname of Wayne America,” Carnes said.
When he created the website, Carnes said he was surprised that the domain name had not already been spoken for.
“For as long as people in the community have referred to Wayne, Nebraska as ‘Wayne America,’ I was positive the domain had already been spoken for and that someone was just sitting on it and waiting to get a big amount of money for it,” he said. “To say that I was surprised to discover that it was, in fact, available would be an understatement.”
Carnes said he will be setting up a new website in early 2024.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
