Miller throws no-no to help WSC sweep Crookston

Senior Cassy Miller threw a gem in the opener and the Wayne State pitchers got plenty of offensive support as they unloaded on Minnesota Crookston in a 13-0, 12-10 doubleheader sweep Saturday at the Chapman Complex.
In the opener, Miller recorded her first career no-hitter, taking a perfect game into the fifth inning before giving up a two-out walk. She struck out six and walked one in recording her first college no-hitter.
She got plenty of support on offense. Alyssa Schropp hit a grand slam homer and had two hits. Lexie Loos and Melanie Alyea also had two hits apiece, with Loos driving in two and scoring twice. Katelyn Wobken also homered and Brooke French and Morgan Hoeg both had doubles.
In the nightcap, Wayne State trailed 2-0 early, but erupted for six runs in the second to take the lead for good. The Wildcats had 14 hits in the game, with Emily Chandler recording three hits and four RBI’s in the win. Loos and Shelby Wobken each had two hits while Katelyn Wobken homered and scored twice.
Shelby Wobken got the win, striking out two in three innings of work.
Wayne State will host Bemidji State in a doubleheader Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Chapman Complex.
