Moeller hits provisional marks at UNK meet

KEARNEY — Freshman Logan Moeller posted a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the long jump and triple jump Friday to lead Wayne State at the Loper Invitational, held in Kearney.

Moeller hit an NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump at 48 feet, 7 1/2 inches, and added another NCAA provisional mark in the long jump at 24-3 to finish second in both events.

Sophomore Dylan Kneifl posted a fourth place finish in the high jump, clearing 6-4 3/4, and Cole Christoffersen was sixth in the hammer throw at 184-3.

Freshman sprinter Theo Huber collected a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.04) and was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 22.44 seconds.

Senior Noah Lilly was fifth in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.50 seconds, Cody Rogers was seventh in the triple jump (43-3), Daniel Elge placed eighth in the shot put (47-3 3/4), Alex Brandt was ninth in the javelin at 136-11 and Braden Johnson took ninth in the long jump at 21-4 3/4.

In women’s action, the Wayne State throwers posted strong marks to lead the Wildcat women’s outdoor track and field team.

Junior Kendra Paasch placed in three events to lead Wayne State’s throwers, placing third with a personal best mark of 45-4 1/4 in the shot put to go with a fourth-place finish in the discus (143-0) and an eighth-place effort in the hammer throw at 162-7.

Junior Brooklynn Chipps had a second-place finish in the hammer throw at 178-9 and was fourth in the shot put at 44-11.

Jadin Wagner was fifth in the hammer throw (169-1), Brooke Languis placed sixth in the shot put at 42-10 1/4, and Reilly Young was seventh in the discus with a mark of 141-5.

Keyla Sambo collected a third-place finish in the triple jump (36-7), Megan Hansen took third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.97) and Sarah Cotton was third in the 200-meter dash in 25.57 seconds.

Other top finishers were Emily Smollen taking fifth in the long jump (16-3 3/4), Emily Erickson was fifth in the triple jump at 34-9 3/4 and Cotton eighth in the 100-meter dash at 12.58 seconds.

Wayne State will compete Friday and Saturday at the South Dakota Challenge in Vermillion.
