She’d be having a fit that we’re fussing over her and you’re reading this obituary with details of her life. But if anyone deserves attention for all the immense love she had for her family and friends, it’s her.

Born on July 6, 1938, in Omaha, Nancy moved to Wahoo, where she graduated from Wahoo High School and attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri.

After a road trip to California, she married her trip chauffeur and longtime friend Charles “Chuck” Ahlvers on March 10, 1959 in Santa Monica, California.

Chuck and Nancy planted roots in Wayne to raise and dote on their three children - Daniel, Julie and Denise. She extended her motherly nature to other children working as a schoolteacher at Wayne County Country School for many rewarding years.

After becoming empty nesters, Nancy and Chuck moved to Lincoln in 1986 and have lived there since.

A schoolteacher by trade, she could be found at their round kitchen table balancing checkbooks or finishing the daily crossword in the newspaper. Caretaker by heart, the roles of mom and eventually grandma came naturally to Nancy. Years later, she gained hundreds of “grandchildren” when she worked in the cafeteria at Pyrtle Elementary School.

Survivors include her husband Chuck; son Daniel; daughters Julie Hinds (son-in-law Donald) and Denise Jacobmeier (son-in-law Jon); grandchildren Logan (granddaughter-in-law Maggie), Sara and Taylor Hinds and Alexia, Tessa and Caleb Jacobmeier; sister Peggy (Kettelhut) Jensen; various nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Zelpha; brothers Daniel Hult, Bill Gill, Jerry Eklund, Rodney Kettelhut; sister Barbara (Gill) Coffey; nephew Ethan.
