Wayne High senior Hana Nelsen shot a 105 and finished eighth in C-3 district action Monday at Norfolk Country Club to earn a trip to next week’s state golf tournament
Nelsen shot a 51 on the front nine and came home with a 54 to finish among the top 10 individual golfers. She was one stroke ahead of the cutoff, with two golfers tying for ninth and 10th place with a 106.
As a team, Wayne finished fifth out of 11 full teams in the tournament. Natalie Bentjen followed with a 114, Marrissa Lutt had a 119, Cassidy Manz shot 137 and Anna-Sofia Suuntamaa had a 143.
Battle Creek won the team title with a 426, while Norfolk Catholic and Hartington Cedar Catholic tied for second with a 440.
LCC shot 648 and finished last in the team standings. Glenda Vance led the Lady Bears with a 126, Jayden Kinkaid shot 138, Hope Swanson had a 162 and Brianna Campbell shot 222.
Nelsen will compete in the Class C State Golf Championships on Monday and Tuesday in North Platte.
