Nelsen leads Wayne boys golf at Boone Central Invite

While the JV team traveled to Laurel, Wayne High sent five of their boys varsity golfers to the Boone Central Invite.

From the Albion Country Club, Wayne High was listed among 12 teams in action on Thursday.

The Wayne High boys shot a 378 to tie for eighth.

Norfolk Catholic was crowned champion of the Boone Central Invite with a 323, Columbus Lakeview followed in second (326), Boone Central took third (344), O’Neill placed fourth (345) and Ord rounded out the top five teams with a 354.

Riley Nelson from Boone Central finished with a one-over PAR 73 to win the 18-hole invite among the 60 golfers in action.

Colson Nelsen paced Wayne High with a 91 to tie for 24th.

Other Blue Devil team scoring results came from Mason Karsky (t-31st – 93), Dylan Jensen (t-35th – 96) and Carter Wiese (40th – 98). Theo Claussen (t-45th – 102) also competed on the varsity team.

In Laurel, Wayne JV finished 13th with a 438. Scoring was posted by Maddux Heithold (35th – 98), Brayden Woehler (53rd – 110), Jaxson Chase (54th – 111), Jamison Meyer (60th – 119) and Jake Barner (62nd – 119).
