Wayne State sophomore forward Erin Norling was voted to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District VII Women’s Basketball Team.

The award is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America and recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Norling, a native of Loretto, Minn., maintains a 4.0 grade average majoring in biology/pre-physician assistant, and was one of six players to receive First Team status.

On the court, she leads Wayne State in scoring at 15.2 points per game and is tied for third in the league in minutes played, eighth in steals per game and 10th in free throw percentage.

Norling has scored double digits in 24 of 26 games this season for the Wildcats, highlighted by a season-high 21 in 75-58 victory over Northwest Missouri State. She also has two double-doubles this season, recording 16 points and 10 rebounds against Truman State and 16 points and 10 boards against Minnesota State.

With the selection to the First Team, Norling now advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot with honorees to be announced in mid-March.
