Public services for Norma J. Tietz, 87, of Wayne will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12  at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.

She died Saturday June 8, 2024, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.

 Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.

Norma Jean Tietz was born Aug. 21, 1936 on  a farm west of Bancroft to Fred William Carl and Oda Anna Augusta (Paulsen) Albus. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft, and attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School.  Norma married Arlen Henry Tietz Oct. 19, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft.  The couple lived in Beemer for five years. After moving to Wayne, Norma was employed at the Ben Franklin Store for many years and did housekeeping for area families.  Later, Norma was a custodian for Wayne Public Schools for several years before her retirement. 

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Dwight) Goforth of Beavercreek, Ohio; son, Mark (Joni) Tietz of Carroll; two grandchildren, Brent (Rachel) Tietz and Lyndi (Bob) McElroy; five great-grandchildren, one brother, Lauren Albus of Beemer; sister-in-law, Elaine Tietz of Bancroft; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband, Arlen, in 1986; one brother, Vernon Albus; one sister,  Delores Wegner; brothers-in-law, Ray Tietz,  Herbert Tietz, Erwin Ruehling and Lauren Wegner; and sisters-in-law, Marcella Ruehling, Loretta Tietz, Edna Albus and Betty Petersen.
