One final Northeast Nebraska Crush youth baseball team was in action in mid-July for the USSSA 'AA' state touranment. Crush 10u won both their pool play games before falling in round one of bracket 'A' (top 16 teams).
Crush 10u closes state tourney with bracket loss
A third Northeast Nebraska Crush youth baseball team qualified for the top 16 bracket 'A' among the Nebraska USSSA State Tournament.
Back at the Gretna Crossing Park, Crush 10u competed against Millard United Battle Blue 10u on July 12 during the 'AA' tourney.
The Crush fell behind late and dropped a 9-4 decision to end their season at 23-7-2.
Crush 10u began with a 3-2 advantage in the first inning before Millard United tied the game up at 4-4 with a 2-1 second inning.
Millard then closed the game with two runs in the third, one run in the second and two more runs in the fifth to win 9-4 despite being outhit, 7-5.
Andrew Smith singled twice, drove in three runs and scored as Kyler Wiebelhaus doubled.
Gavin Prince, Kyson Garcia and Adrian Zarate all singled and scored; Ty Wittler singled as Maxx Wohlers accounted for a RBI.
Garcia (62 pitches) suffered the loss in two and two-thirds of relief allowing three runs (one earned) off two hits while striking out four batters and walking five. Wiebelhaus (39) started the opening inning allowing four runs (three earned) off one hit while striking out two batters, walking four and hitting one.
Smith threw seven pitches and didn't record an out as Ryan Magnuson (29) closed out the final inning and a third allowing two earned runs off two hits while striking out three batters and walking two.
Previously Crush 10u won 8-6 against Omaha Tigers White 10u and 15-4 over Suburban Stampede Black 10u both on July 11 during pool play.
The weekend prior, Crush 11u and Crush 8u were in action during the Nebraska USSSA 'AAA' State Tournament July 5 - 7.
Crush 11u was crowned champion of bracket 'A' after going 5-0 and finished their season at 26-8.
Crush 8u went 2-1 at state finishing 22-8 on the season.
Crush 10u go 2-0 during state pool play
Nebraska USSSA 'AA' State Tournament play began July 11 with pool play competition for the Northeast Nebraska Crush 10u youth baseball team.
From the Gretna Crossing Park, Crush 10u won 8-6 over Omaha Tigers White 10u and picked up a 15-4 victory against Suburban Stampede Black 10u.
The Crush improved to then 23-6-2.
In the opening morning game, both teams scored four runs in the first inning. Following a scoreless second, the Crush used a 3-1 advantage in the third inning.
Omaha plated a single run in the top of the fourth as the Crush answered with a run in the home half of the fifth. Final favored Crush 10u winning 8-6 despite being outhit, 10-6.
Gavin Prince doubled, drove in a run and scored while Ryan Magnuson singled and scored twice.
Maxx Wohlers and Kyson Garcia both singled and drove in a run; Ty Wittler singled and scored; Andrew Smith singled; Thomas Plager scored twice as single runs came from Adrian Zarate and Kyler Wiebelhaus.
Garcia (27 pitches) picked up the win in two and a third innings of relief allowing an earned run off five hits while striking out two batters. Smith (61) started the opening two and two-thirds allowing five earned runs off five hits while striking out three batters and walking two.
During the afternoon outing, neither team scored in the opening inning until Crush 10u took a 2-1 lead after the second inning.
The Crush took over the third inning thanks to a 13-3 advantage to win 15-4 and outhit the Stampede, 12-5.
Ryan Magnuson singled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Ty Wittler singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored as Gavin Prince doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Kyson Garcia also singled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice while Thomas Plager singled twice, drove in two runs and scored.
Andrew Smith singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Kyler Wiebelhaus singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Maxx Wohlers singled and scored twice as Adrian Zarate scored.
Magnuson (55 pitches) picked up the win in two and two-thirds allowing four earned runs off four hits while striking out two batters and walking three. Wiebelhaus (12) closed out the final inning and a third allowing one hit while striking out two batters.
Crush 10u later ended their season following a 9-4 loss to Millard United Battle Blue 10u on July 12 during bracket 'A' competition.
