One of the Northeast Nebraska Crush youth baseball teams took their talent across the state line for a May 22 doubleheader.
From Council Bluffs, Iowa, Crush 11u visited River City Owls 11u.
The Crush picked up wins of 8-4 and 9-6 to improve to 16-4 on the season.
During the opening game, Crush 11u stormed back down 2-0 through three innings. They scored three runs in the fourth, both teams plated two runs in the fifth as Crush 11u closed with a three-run top of the sixth.
Cohen Woehler and Kirby Gubbels both doubled, drove in a run and scored as Kase Brester singled, drove in a run and scored twice.
Brock Hansen singled, drove in a run and scored; Becker Ekberg and Cruz Andrade both singled and drove in a run; Kailex Kalin accounted for a RBI and run scored; Barrett Hanson added a RBI as Kash Koch and Julian Contreras both scored.
Kalin (84 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in six innings allowing four runs (one earned) off five hits while striking out four batters and walking three.
From the second outing, Crush 11u broke the 6-6 tie in the top of the sixth thanks to a three-run inning.
Barrett Hanson singled twice, doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Ekberg singled twice, doubled and scored twice; Contreras singled, doubled and scored twice as Brester doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Brock Hansen singled, drove in two runs and scored; Wyatt Dunklau singled and scored as Andrade and Woehler both singled and drove in a run.
Barrett Hanson (43 pitches) started the opening two innings allowing two earned runs off one hit while striking out four batters and walking three. Ekberg (48) followed the next two innings allowing four earned runs off two hits while striking out four batters, walking four and hitting two. Brester (26) closed out the final two innings allowing one hit while striking out two batters and walking one batter.
The Northeast Nebraska Crush 11u youth baseball team will next compete on May 30 - June 1 during the Midwest Global State Tournament.
