Northeast Nebraska Crush youth baseball weekend recap

All three Northeast Nebraska Crush youth baseball teams traveled to weekend tournaments from June 7 - 8.

Crush 8u:

Four games in two days didn't stand a chance for the Northeast Nebraska Crush 8u youth baseball team who scored 50 runs en route to a tournament win.

From Omaha, the Crush competed in the Summer Slam Tournament June 7 - 8.

Crush 8u started with Saturday wins of 14-1 over Bennington Premier Blue 8u and 15-0 against Stampede Blue 8u. On Sunday, the Crush won 8-5 over Stampede Blue 8u a second time before securing a 13-0 win in the finals over Millard United Legends Blue 8u.

Crush 8u is now 16-6 on the season.

For the weekend, Luke Williamson recorded nine hits (three singles, three doubles, one triple, two homeruns); Tanner Heithold followed with six hits (four singles, two doubles) as Jaxon Herbert added five hits (four singles, one double).

Williamson accounted for a team-high 15 RBI, Herbert was next with six RBI as Knox Koch and Kaiser Woehler both tallied five RBI.

Leaders in the runs scored column were Herbert with 10, Williamson was right behind crossing nine times as Kannon Kalin tacked on seven runs scored.

Williamson (94 pitches) worked four and a third of the 16 innings pitched starting two games. He allowed an earned run off one hit while striking out 10 batters, walking four and hitting two.

Nolan Plager (54) pitched three innings appearing in three games. He allowed two hits while striking out six batters, walking two and hitting one.

The Northeast Nebraska Crush 8u youth baseball team will return to action on Friday June 20 during the Lincoln Building Champions Tourney.

 

Crush 11u:

Northeast Nebraska Crush 11u took their youth baseball talents off to another weekend tournament making it to the finals.

During the Stampede Summer Slam NIT 11u AAA, the Crush went 3-1 to finish runner-up June 7 - 8.

On Saturday, Crush 11u won 10-2 over UBA Gladiators - Elkhorn 11u and 14-2 against Central Nebraska Reds 11u. Moving into Sunday, the Northeast Nebraska Crush secured a 13-5 victory over Iowa Crush 11u before falling in the finals of 9-7 to MBA Cyclones Red 11u.

For the weekend, Julian Contreras posted a team-high seven hits (four singles, three doubles); Becker Ekberg added six hits (four singles, two doubles) as Wyatt Dunklau (five singles) and Kase Brester (four singles, one triple) both tallied five hits.

Contreras also drove in a team leading 13 runs followed by Brester with five RBI.

Cruz Andrade crossed the plate seven times along with six runs each from Ekberg and Brock Hansen.

Brester (71 pitches) pitched five innings of the 17 and two-thirds team innings appearing in two games. He allowed four earned runs off four hits while striking out five batters.

Dunklau (81) worked four and two-thirds appearing in one game. He allowed five runs (four earned) off five hits while striking out eight batters and walking three.

The Northeast Nebraska Crush 11u youth baseball team will be off until Saturday, July 5 during the 11u USSA State Tournament in Omaha.

 

Crush 10u:

With two Northeast Nebraska Crush youth baseball teams in action in-state, Crush 10u traveled to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Crush competed in the Pastime Classic June 7 - 8.

On Saturday, Crush 10u started with an 11-8 win over Sanford Academy White 10u followed by a 5-5 tie against 712 Stars Select 10u. On Sunday, the Crush won 5-4 over Auburn Bombers 10u but lost 17-5 to Harrisburg Tigers White 10u.

Crush 10u now sit 20-4-2 on the season.

For the weekend, Adrian Zarate (six singles) and Andrew Smith (two singles, three doubles, one triple) both recorded six hits while Ryan Magnuson (four singles, one double) added five hits.

Magnuson drove in a team-high four runs followed by Kyson Garcia and Smith both with three RBI.

Zarate and Smith each scored five runs.

Garcia (103 pitches) worked seven innings of the 21 pitched by the team appearing in two games and starting one. He allowed three earned runs off eight hits while striking out 11 batters and walking one.

Magnuson (134) pitched five and two-thirds appearing in three games and starting two. He allowed 22 earned runs off 24 hits while striking out five batters, walking three and hitting one.

The Northeast Nebraska Crush 10u youth baseball team will next travel to Ashland Bluejays 10u on Tuesday, June 17.
