Northeast Power has announced the groundbreaking of two new locally owned solar projects that represent a significant investment in the future of reliable, affordable energy for the customers and communities it serves.
The projects include the construction of two 2.5-megawatt (MW) solar facilities—one located near Jackson and the other near Martinsburg.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Dixon County Solar Facility near Martinsburg and the Leonard and Roberta Gill Solar Facility near Jackson will take place Thursday, Aug. 13 around 10:30 am.
The groundbreaking will be held at the Martinsburg site four miles north of Martinsburg, on 879th Road and approximately one-quarter mile west of 585th Avenue.
Together with the 2.5-MW solar facility currently under construction near Osmond, these projects are part of Northeast Power's long-term strategy to strengthen its electric system through local generation and strategic infrastructure investments.
Construction on the Jackson and Martinsburg facilities is scheduled to begin in mid-August, with both projects expected to be operational in the spring of 2027.
