The Omaha STEM Ecosystem has announced the inaugural STEM Impact Awards, a new annual event celebrating excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics across Nebraska.

The STEM Impact Awards will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium to honor individuals and organizations that are transforming Nebraska’s STEM landscape through education, innovation and community impact.

With STEM careers projected to grow 11% statewide by 2030 outpacing non-STEM fields, Omaha STEM Ecosystem’s mission of connecting education and business development has never been more urgent. The STEM Impact Awards were created to recognize and elevate those who are leading the way, ensuring Nebraska remains a center of innovation, equity and excellence.

Now through Sept. 15, Omaha STEM Ecosystem invites the public to nominate individuals and organizations across Nebraska that are making a significant impact in STEM education, access, engagement or workforce development. There are three award categories:

Inspiring Minds Award: Honors an exceptional educator or principal in Nebraska who goes above and beyond to ignite curiosity and champion STEM learning in the classroom.

Driving Innovation Award: Recognizes a forward-thinking business or organization in Nebraska that invests in growing the STEM talent pipeline through strategic partnerships and community engagement.

Transforming Communities Award: Celebrates a changemaker (individual, business or nonprofit) that expands access, promotes equity and strengthens STEM opportunity across Nebraska communities.

The STEM Impact Awards on Nov. 5 will include:

• Keynote Presentation

• Animal Ambassador Encounters

• Dinner and Signature STEM Cocktail

• Award Ceremony

• Networking with Leaders in Education, Business and Nonprofit Sectors

This event is more than just an awards ceremony, it’s a call to action to celebrate and amplify the educators, businesses and community champions who are inspiring future generations and fueling Nebraska’s economic future.

Sponsorship opportunities are currently available and proceeds from the event will directly support Omaha STEM Ecosystem programs that connect Pre-K to college learners, educators and professionals with STEM resources and opportunities.
