Wayne Chapter #194 Order of Eastern Star met Aug. 19 at the Masonic Building for the Family and Friendship pot luck supper.

Guests were from South Sioux City, Norfolk, Plainview and included Grand Marshal Gale Retzlaff. The program was given by Bob Carhart on Rob Morris, who started the Order of Eastern Star in 1855.

The Order of Eastern Star supports philanthropic causes. Lynn Schellpeper reported that scholarships were given to Wayne High seniors Jordyn Gamble and Adrienne Anderson, who plan to attend college.

Memorial contributions this year were made in memory of Sisters Pat Straight, JoAnn Schellpeper and Janette Kingsley. Several petitions for membership were presented. A tribute was given to Bob Carhart who received the High-Twelve Club International's recognition for his secretarial work.

The next regular meeting of the Order of Eastern Star was scheduled for Sept. 15 to honor the 50-year and over members of the organization. Lynn Kramer and Angeline Heuharth were scheduled to oversee refreshments.
