Over 430 wrestlers attend Wayne wrestling club tournament; six girls, 16 boys win gold from Wayne

It was a busy day in Wayne on Sunday with the Wayne Wrestling Club Tournament allowing girls and boys to showcase their talents.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr High School, 33 teams were highlighted among the 2025 Wayne Wrestling Club Tournament. There were 434 wrestlers in action.

The Wayne Wrestling Club displayed 81 wrestlers taking home the top honors with 364.5 points with Fremont Wrestling Club (33 wrestlers) totaling 320 points.

Wayne Wrestling Club girls champions were Nayeli Zarate (prek-k 38-39), Kollins Koch (prek-k 44-47), Ava Hight (prek-k 53-56), Kimbree Rees (5th-6th 90-105), Zoe Bolles (7th-8th 120-138) and Alexandria Ziska (7th-8th 159-191).

Runner-up results came from Maggie Sorenson (3rd-4th 64-70), Konstynce Owens-Webb (5th-6th 65-72), Pashynce Owens-Webb (7th-8th 96-107) and Ayvree Abler (7th-8th 120-138).

Wayne Wrestling Club boys champions were Winston Surber (prek-k 38-40), Braylon Burbach (prek-k 43-44), Aiden Wragge (prek-k 45-47), Grant Rose (prek-k 50 A), Otto Hays (prek-k 51-53), Knox Koch (1st-2nd 54-59), Tanner Heithold (1st-2nd 52-57), Kaiser Woehler (1st-2nd 59-64), Matthew Staub (3rd-4th 48-58), Matthew Staub (3rd-4th 73-76), Lincoln Nelson (3rd-4th 80-85), Brock Hansen (3rd-4th 88-96), Brock Hansen (3rd-4th 109-119), Mason Nelson (5th-6th 77-82), Dominic Surber (5th-6th 160-165) and Tyler Daniels (7th-8th 76-84).

Runner-up results came from Ziyah Burr (prek-k 39-41), Wyatt Lubke (prek-k 46-48), Caysn luschen (prek-k 53-55), Austin Heithold (1st-2nd 53-55 A), Lane Claussen (1st-2nd 60-66) and Trexton Ocampo (3rd-4th 86-88).

The Wayne Wrestling Club will next compete at the Tekamah-Herman Invite on Sunday, Feb. 16.
