Wayne State track and field coach Marlon Brink announced that Kendra Paasch of West Point-Beemer High School has signed a national letter of intent to attend Wayne State in the 2019-20 academic year and compete in women’s track and field for the Wildcats.
Paasch is a 6-foot thrower who is a three-year starter in track and field and volleyball along with starting in basketball last season as a junior. Last spring, she placed in two events as a junior at the Class B State Track and Field Meet with a third place medal in the discus (131-10) and an eighth place medal in the shot put (39-3 3/4). Paasch was also the champion of the shot put and discus at the Northeast Nebraska Track and Field Classic. In 2017 as a sophomore, Paasch placed eighth in the Class B discus with a top mark of 121-8.
In volleyball this season, Paasch averaged 2.1 kills per set and had 33 blocks and was named All-State honorable mention while receiving Academic All-State honors.
“I believe Kendra will bring a lot of energy and passion to our throws squad,” Brink said. “She has had some good success in high school and with the environment of having great teammates and an excellent throws coach in Coach Suckstorf I feel will help her reach her full potential.”
“I am very excited for Kendra to join out group of throwers,” said Wildcat throws coach Brett Suckstorf. “Kendra is a very good three-sport athlete as well as a very good student. I look forward to working with her to help her develop into a great thrower and add to the success of our program.”
Wayne State College women’s track and field has had four national champion throwers and over 15 All-American finishers in throwing events over the last six seasons.
