Discussion on extending a substantial completion date on a project at Prairie Park and approving the sale of city property were part of Monday's meeting of the Wayne City Council.

Council members had differing opinions on whether an extension should be granted to Cooney Fertilizers, Inc. for the Wayne Prairie Park Phase 4-Baseball Fields Project.

Following considerable discussion, council members voted 4-2 in favor of granting the extension.

A resolution was approved and an ordinance received first reading in regard to approving a purchase agreement and authorizing the sale of property to Jim and Dawn Casey.

Council members accepted the membership of Taner Stanley to the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department. He currently works at Michael Foods in Wakefield and lives in Wayne.

The Wayne City Council will next meet in regular session on Monday, Nov. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers.
