Norfolk High boys swimming continued their pre-holiday schedule along with a Wayne High competitor in their first year with a co-op for boys swimming.
From Lincoln Southeast High School, Wayne’s Kyler Parker competed for the Norfolk boys swimming team on Saturday.
The weekend invite required qualifying times for entry and there were 19 schools on the boys side providing fast times and points. Most swimmers competing either had a state qualifying time, a state secondary time or were right on the outside of those times.
In the team standings, Lincoln East edged Omaha Westside (417-407) while Millard North took third with 263 points. Norfolk High accumulated 122 points to place seventh.
Parker’s top individual finish was 19th during the 100 Freestyle during a time of 54.01 (personal best). He also took 27th during the 50 Freestyle in a time of 24.21.
In the relay portion, Parker swam the freestyle race with a leg of 23.75 during the Norfolk High eighth place 200 Medley Relay Team in 1:45.55 and was the fourth split (24.1) during the eighth place Norfolk High 200 Freestyle Relay team in 1:36.69.
The Norfolk girls competed on Friday, Dec. 20 during the 2024 Knight Invite for Diving in Lincoln. The Panthers finished fifth with 181 points. Omaha Westside won the invite with 443 points while Lincoln East followed in runner-up with 334 points.
The Norfolk swimming teams are off for over three weeks and will next host Columbus for a dual on Jan. 14.
