A representative from Wayne High School was put to the test during the 2025 NSAA State Swimming Championships which wrapped up the first year of a co-op for boys swimming at Norfolk.
From the Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, freshman Kyler Parker from Wayne joined his Norfolk teammates as an individual state qualifier and competed on two relays.
During the second session on Friday afternoon, Parker swam in the 100 Butterfly prelims. He finished 27th overall in a time of 56.52 which was a PR.
Later in the day, Parker swam splits during the 200 and 400 Freestyle relays.
In the 200 Free Relay prelims, Norfolk took 10th (1:31.63). During the 400 Free Relay prelims, Norfolk finished 10th (3:21.62).
On Saturday, Norfolk’s two relays Parker swam on both competed in the consolation finals. The 200 Free Relay showcased Norfolk finishing 10th with improvement on their overall time (1:30.86) as the 400 Free Relay saw Norfolk place 14th in a time of 3:23.24.
As a team, the Norfolk boys finished ninth with 99 points (eighth place Elkhorn scored 103 points).
Lincoln East held off Creighton Prep (334 – 316.5) for the boys team title.

In the girls state swimming team race, Marian edged Westside (330 – 315). Norfolk finished sixth with 143 points.
