Phyllis M. Macke, 92, of Wayne, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at Wayne Countryview Care and Rehabilitation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a vigil service 6 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to Phyllis’ family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Phyllis Mae Elaine Macke was born October 23, 1928, on a farm near Bloomfield to August and Martha (Hill) Schuett. She attended rural school near Bloomfield and two years at Center, before graduating from Bloomfield High School in 1947. She was a domestic helper until her marriage. Phyllis married Bernard Macke Jr. on Sept. 9, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland. Following Bernard’s military service, they moved to Wayne in 1952. The couple lived south of Wayne until they moved into Wayne in 1960.Phyllis was a very hard worker, having been employed at Dahl’s Retirement Center, Jeff’s CafĂ© and later Po Po’s II in Wayne. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne.
Survivors include her children, Rick (Cathy) Macke of Norfolk and Sandy Grone of Killeen, Texas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Darrell Schuett of Bloomfield, Kenneth (Sheri) Schuett of Huntsville, Texas and Myron (Nancy) Schuett of Laurel; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard, in 1999; two sons, Terry in 1971 and Michael in 2017; a sister, Kathryn (Al) Macke; two brothers, one in infancy and Bob Schuett; and one sister-in-law,(Erma) Schuett.
